12x12-Way Duel Weekend - Final Recap and Thanks to All!

Here's a final overview of the 12x12-Way Duel weekend, courtesy of Curtis' awesome scoreboard.  It's been a week since we played the last Duel, but in some ways, it already feels like years ago.  I can't believe we pulled it off!

I want to thank everyone who participated, contributed to it, and cheered us on from afar.  This fall starts the 12th year of the league, which is absolutely insane.  I can't believe we've kept the league going for so long!  I just want to thank all of you who have played over the years, be it one game, over a hundred, or somewhere in between.  I've made some incredible friends at our Dueling table, and I hope that's been your experience too.

May the Force be with you.  Always.

(PEW PEW!)

12x12-Way Weekend Episode 12: It's Been A Ride, Babes! - June 22, 2025, 8AM

Carbon Freezing Chamber

All good things - and all long, grueling things, must come to an end!  The 12x12 weekend concluded with the original 12 characters on one of the original boards that came in the box, the Carbon Freezing Chamber!  The play moved quickly as folks were ready to pack up and hit the road.  The light side dwindled the dark and Elliot managed to win the last two Duels of the weekend, this time with Anakin Skywalker!

Episode 12 - classic 12 characters in their starting positions.

12x12-Way Weekend Episode XI: Rogue Fun - June 21, 2025 (8PM)

Naboo Reactor Pit

We finally made it to Saturday night and the most anticipated Duel of the weekend - the all-new character Duel!!!  That's right, we introduced 12 new characters into the league, and saved their first Duel for the penultimate Duel of the weekend!  Though we were closing in on midnight before the match even started, everyone insisted we play the Naboo board so we could see as many cards as possible from the new decks.  Here are the new decks!

It's a nice mix of prequels heroes, recent tv shows, and even a character from the original trilogy!  The last team standing, though, which included the insane new card "Order 66," was Elliot with the Clone Commandos!  This triple-minor deck carried the day!!

12x12-Way Duel Weekend Episode X: Book of No Regrets (4PM)

 Ewok Village

This was easily the most sentimental Duel of the weekend - Episode X was the "knows how to play them" Duel, where each Dueler was paired with a character their known for over the years.  And we saved one of the very best boards for it too - Ewok Village!

This game got started very late because of the last one, but it also marked the most exciting finish of the weekend.  Both Riley/Vader and Ian/Maul got down to their last point of health, but Ian pulled it off for his SIXTH WIN WITH DARTH MAUL WHICH IS SOOOO GROSS!!!

Episode 10 - "knows how to play them" Duel.

12x12-Way Weekend Episode IX: Rise of Trash Talkers - June 21, 2025 (12PM)

Death Star (NEW BOARD!!!)

We waited all weekend for this Duel - it was the debut of our newest board:  THE DEATH STAR!!!  Ryan came through in a HUGE way with this one.  It's all 3D printed pieces that fit into a grid, and you place the pieces randomly so you'll never play the same configuration twice!!!  There are raised terrain, open terrain, starting spots marked by mouse droids...this thing is SICK!!!  And it looks absolutely gorgeous!

The mood at the table was tense for this one, as people were stressed by a brand new layout and residual animosity from the previous eight Duels.  At the end of the day - and how fitting! - it was the mastermind of the Death Star himself, Orson Krennic (Jonah), who won the day!!!  This also marked Jonah's second career win.  He deserved this one too!  He randomly got five 12th place finishes on the weekend, but that was much more indicative of bad luck than Jonah's awesome talent as a Dueler.

Episode 9 - the last randomized characters/starting spots of the weekend.

12x12-Way Weekend Episode VIII: The Gassed Jedi - June 21, 2025 (8AM)

Kamino Platform

Nothing like waking up to the fresh taste of STAR WARS EPIC DUELS in your cup!  Episode VIII was on the Kamino Platform, our first 3D board in league history and still a fan favorite.  This Duel also featured the first player of the weekend to "crack," meaning they lost their cool!!!  Since the internet is forever we won't name names...but if you were there it got a little tense lol!!!  A person can only stand so many backstabs.  This was a hard fought battle that came down to a daddy-daughter final two - Rob and Riley!  Ahsoka and Sabine managed to outlast Riley's Reva though - this marked Ahsoka's first career win!

Episode 8 - randomized characters and starting spots (and all three Wookies!)

12x12-Way Weekend Episode VII: The Force Was Mistaken - June 20, 2025 (8PM)

Narkina-5 Prison

This Duel marked the first time in league history that we played FOUR Duels in one day!!!  And this one, like the night before, went DEEP into the night before it was resolved.  Once the prison floor stopped pulsing with electricity, it would be Curtis' Lando Calrissian who survived!  He was the perfect character on the perfect starting spot to make it to the end.

Episode 7 - all-shooter Duel.

12x12-Way Weekend Episode VI: We Yearn for a Jedi - June 20, 2025 (4PM)

Conveyex Train

We must have been feeling it at this point of the weekend - we don't really have any pictures of this Duel!  This was the first ever "all melee" Duel in league history, though, and the small board of the Conveyex Train made it a perfect battle for light sabers.  When the dust settled, though, it was Jonathan winning his THIRD Duel of the weekend!!!  It also marked victory number one for The Stranger!

Episode 6 - all melee Duel.
