Rob: I love you, Duelers!
Duelers: We know.
It's February, and that means love is in the air, like a dozen Whistling Birds! The Valentine's Duel is upon us, and my goodness, we have a new board you're going to love! We will be playing in the Eravana Cargo Hold, the setting where we first see Han and Chewey return to screen in The Force Awakens. And do you remember the two cute creatures who they were transporting?
That's right - we've got Rathtars for this game! They can't be damaged, they can't be killed, and if they cross your path it's two points of automatic damage, plus a four point attack if they land on you! They're so cuddly, way better than a sappy teddy bear holding a heart! The only way to save yourself is to redirect them by opening or closing doors at various control stations on the board. Plus, the four center squares are the only spaces the Rathtars can't reach. If all of this doesn't sound exciting enough, we decided to DOUBLE their movement role each time it's their turn to sprint towards our hapless characters, because who wants a slow Rathtar!?!? Check out the board:
The black squares are raised terrain, the arrows indicate the "first instinct" direction the Rathtars will run, depending on which doors are open or closed. If you're standing on a square with a door control, you may use one of your actions to open it or close it. The inner track is clockwise, the outer track is counterclockwise. But if certain doors are open or closed, the Rathtars reverse direction! And once they're released, they'll maintain a movement turn for the rest of the game unless trapped again. They will cause so much pain...I can't wait!!!

STAR WARS POSTER BOOK PREDICTS THE WINNER:
The Poster Book was nearly right last month, predicting Qui-Gon, who got close with third place. But the book has dropped to 3-4 on the year. Ok poster book...who you like in this one???
Whoa!!! The poster book thinks Han's homecourt advantage will carry him through!!! That's a bold prediction, but you gotta love it.
This is also the first Duel in league history with a mix of old and new characters!
