Preview: May The 4th Be With You - May 4, 2021

Pull out your hankies, because believe it or not, another Dueling season is at an end!  This will forever be known as the COVID year, the season we played entirely online.  Usually the May The 4th Duel is on a weekend or a study day, but because of the stupid pandemic, nothing can come easy.  The semester was truncated and, as a result, we're playing a Duel on a weekday night in the middle of finals!!!

Will that stop us?

OF COURSE NOT!!!  It's May 4th, the greatest day of the year for Star Wars Fans!

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU HISTORY:

2020 - Ryan won with Han Solo on the Kamino Platform
2019 - Riley won with Emperor Palpatine in the Emperor's Throne Room
2018 - Rob won with Mace Windu in the Emperor's Throne Room
2017 - JD won with Yoda in the Emperor's Throne Room
2016 - Chris K . won with Jango Fett in the Emperor's Throne Room
2015 - Rob won with Jango Fett in the Carbon Freezing Chamber

MEET THE DUELERS:

Chair #1 - Kaleb w/ Jango Fett.  Kaleb is just about sick of getting shooters at this point, but don't sleep on Jango.  He has two May the 4th wins!

Chair #2 - Riley w/ Darth Vader.  Please don't call CPS on Rob for allowing his daughter to play on a school night.  It's an early birthday present for her - she's officially a teenager the next day!

Chair #3 - Ian w/ Kylo Ren.  Holy crap, Ian has Kylo two games in a row!  It didn't end well for Ian last month, but Kylo has finished a spot better every time he's played!

Chair #4 - Rylie w/ Count Dooku.  The prodigal graduate student has returned to the table after missing a few games!  Her finals must be done already...

Chair #5 - Karson w/ Lando Calrissian.  Picking shooters must run in the family!  This marks Karson's third Duel - he's half way to professional!

Chair #6 - Miguel w/ Yoda.  Miguel has played with us seven times before, and has finished seventh place four of those times.  He's looking to finally crack the top six!

Chair #7 - Chris K. w/ Darth Maul.  Dueling veteran Chris is back with us for a game!  He's hoping to replicate his win at this Duel back in 2016, it's his lone victory.

Chair #8 - Rob w/ Orson Krennic.  Has Rob technically received approval from his wife to let his daughter play on a school night?  Let's just say...he's working on it!

Chair #9 - Grant w/ The Mandalorian.  It's been a couple of years since league legend Grant has won, but he nearly got there last month with a third place finish.

Chair #10 - Fiona w/ Mace Windu.  You have to admire the moxie Fiona played Qui-Gon with last month.  She's looking for a deeper run this time around.

Chair #11 - Curtis w/ Rey.  Curtis has won the last three Duels he's played, and three of the last four matches in the league.  That's dumb.  And by dumb I mean insanely good.

Chair #12 - Rachel w/ Han Solo.  Rachel hasn't played with us since last year's May the 4th Duel.  She must really want the Golden Obi-Wan trophy!

NEW BOARD ALERT!

That's right...we're playing with ANOTHER new board!!!  Welcome to the Deathstar's Trash Compactor!  Two piles of raised-terrain junk pinch everyone to the middle.  And you're going to have to move to the middle because every time three main characters die...the walls start closing in!  If you're in the way you automatically die.  There will only be four squares left for the final three Duelers!  If that's not nuts enough, there is a Diagona swimming around in there, and at the end of every round it will randomly attack a space for two points of damage.  We needed a fast board for a week night  Duel, and we have one with the Trash Compactor!

Who will win the last Duel of season seven?  Whoever doesn't get flattened first!  We'll see you all on Tuesday...
