Preview: The Fall Brawl - September 18, 2021

Is it just me, or is it kind of crazy we're already into the back half of September?  This semester is flying by!  But we can't escape the ninth month of the year without playing our annual FALL BRAWL.  The September Duel has always been a bit of a slugfest.  The newbies are settling in, the veterans are cracking their knuckles, and everyone knows nobody is pulling their punches.  YOU HAVE TO LOVE IT.

HISTORY OF THE FALL BRAWL:

2020 - Ryan won with Jango Fett on Arvala-7
2019 - Ryan won with Mace Windu in the Carbon Freezing Chamber
2018 - Courtney H. won with Emperor Palpatine in the Emperor's Throne Room
2017 - JD won with Han Solo in the Geonosis Arena
2016 - Ian won with Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Carbon Freezing Chamber
2015 - Rob won with Obi-Wan Kenobi on the Kamino Platform
2014 - David C. won with Darth Maul on the Kamino Platform

MEET THE DUELERS:

Ok, let's see who's ready to rock this Saturday!

Arianna - rookie Dueler alert!  After watching both games of the Doubleheader, our newest Dueler couldn't wait to jump in and try her own hand at the madness.

Corona - after a scheduling mix-up at the Doubleheader, Corona is finally making his official debut after playing the side game at CL Retreat.

Duncan - he's one of only three professional Duelers in this match, and he's trying to break a mediocre streak which has seen him fall outside of the top six in his last four Duels.

Elliot - poor Elliot has been on a rough streak since his second place finish at CL Training in 2020.  If anyone's due for a strong performance, it's Elliot!

Evan - this amateur had a good day at the Doubleheader last month.  He finished tied for fifth in the first game and nearly made the Monopoly Mandalorian pick come true, bowing out in fourth in game two.

Grant H. - another amateur who is hooked on Dueling, he suffered an unfortunate last place in game one of the Doubleheader, but rebounded into a career-best sixth place in game two.

Ian M. - just like Corona, Ian M. got axed from game 2 at last month's Doubleheader, but he's finally ready to join the annals of new Duelers.

JD M. - of all the rookie Duelers this year, JD is in the lead as the best!  In just his second game, Doublheader #1, he brought home the trophy with General Grievous!

Juan - we've got another rookie Dueler!  The word on the street is the underground game in North Village is turning quite competitive...

Karson - PROFESSIONAL ALERT!  This will mark Karson's sixth Duel, meaning he's turning pro!  Congrats, Karson!

Kayelee - dust off the cobwebs!  Kayelee is Dueling for the second time in her career...the last one coming over four years ago at the CL Retreat!  I'm betting that's a record for longest time off between Duels.

Rob - Rob was middle of the road at last month's Doubleheader.  He finished tied for fifth in game one, and in seventh place in game two.

MONOPOLY PREDICTS THE WINNER:

Monopoly?  Monopoly, come on out here!

Oh, hello!  I was playing in the pumpkin patch!
They're so orange...they remind me of St. Charles Place!

Okay, that's weird.  Well Monopoly, I've gotta hand it to you, you went 1-1 with your Doubleheader predictions.  You might just be a legit Dueling psychic.  It's September, it's Fall, and that means we need your pick for the Fall Brawl.  Who you got?

Oh golly, I love Fall!  That's when all the pumpkin spice
flavors come back to stores and restaurants!  Have
you ever played Pumpkin Spice Monopoly?
It's delicious!!!

That...that doesn't even make sense.  Please, I'm begging you, who do you predict to win the Fall Brawl?!?

Heheheheee!  If I was a pumpkin, you would
see seeds right now instead of Obi-Wan Kenobi!

You're so gross.  But folks, this is Monopoly's pick - Obi-Wan Kenobi!  Let's see if he/she/it is right.

We're playing at 7PM in the North Village Classroom.  If you aren't playing but you want to swing on by to check out the action, please feel free!
